Belgium nation team head coach Roberto Martinez believes that Eden Hazard may not be suited to a new challenge at Real Madrid and says staying at Chelsea is his best option not to join Real Madrid.
The contract between Hazard and Chelsea ends in June 2020 and speculation linking him to a move to Real Madrid in the summer of 2019 has increased in recent months.
The 27-year – old has spoken on several occasions about his desire to play for the LaLiga giants, but Chelsea offers him the highest paid player in the world.
Chelsea’s manager Maurizio Sarri, under whom Hazard said he enjoys playing, also pressures the Belgian to stay at the London club and said last week that it was time for him to decide on his future, which, according to Martinez, would be better spent at Stamford Bridge than at the Bernabéu club.
Roberto Martinez tol Belgian newspaper HLN: ” I don’t know if this would be a good new challenge for him. He knows how much they love him in Chelsea, and between Sarri and him there is chemistry. In addition, he enjoys his time in Chelsea, where he has reached an exceptional level, ”
When the Belgian international pressed on his future following Chelsea’s 2 – 1 win against Watford on 28 December, he said he would make a decision at the end of the season.
